Description

Over the years, many books have been written about the Blue Angels. Most offer only cursory details about the team’s history, and tend to include the same familiar photographs. Recognizing both this fact and with a strong desire to truly document the team’s history, we have created Blue Angels Decades. Part scrapbook, part reference guide, each Volume of Blue Angels Decades will follow the Blue Angels year by year, in ten-year increments. Diving deep into the archives, Blue Angels Decades tells the story of the world’s finest flight demonstration squadron in a manner not yet explored in other books on the subject. Blue Angels Decades is  filled with photos, documents, and images of memorabilia…air show brochures, artefacts and other items unique to each season.

Blue Angel Decades has been given full access to the team’s extensive archives housed at the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola. In addition, former team members have contributed greatly to this effort, ensuring both a rich quantity and quality of material, most of which has never been seen before in print. The project has the approval and support of the U.S. Navy, and the Blue Angels themselves. The inaugural volume of Blue Angels Decades – Volume One – covers the team from its inception in 1946 through the 1955 season. It was released on November 4th during the team’s 75th anniversary celebration in Pensacola.
