The name of Neville Duke is well-known in aviation circles, not only as a successful wartime fighter pilot, but as a peacetime test pilot with the Hawker Aviation Company. During his time in the south of England, North Africa and Italy, he kept a diary. The diaries reveal the innermost thoughts of a fighter pilot as he managed to cope with everyday life and death in a variety of opponents.
