The debate over Luftwaffe paint, camouflage schemes and markings has raged for many years and continues to be a source of great interest among aviation enthusiasts and model builders. The first two volumes in the ‘Luftwaffe and Camouflage Markings’ series sought to remove much of this controversy. By returning to the original sources and through the use of specially prepared paint chips, these two volumes provided, for the first time, a definitive guide to this highly complex subject. The two volumes were extremely successful in terms of sales and attracted much praise from readers and reviewers.

However, it was recognised from the start that the books could only include a fraction of the wealth of photographic material which had been unearthed in the course of the research and so the potential for further photographic supplements, featuring specific aspects of the subject, was recognised from the outset.

This is the first of these photographic supplements to the original two volumes. Compiled by Ken Merrick, the author of the original two volume Luftwaffe Camouflage and Markings 1933-1945, and fellow Australian Brett Green, each of these follow up books will major on specific aspects of Luftwaffe practice from 1933 to 1945. The key feature in this book is cockpit detail and instrumentation.

Other topics covered by the photos are; day fighters, night-fighters, ground attack aircraft, bombers, maritime and reconnaissance aircraft, and those used in primarily civil and commercial capacities as well for training and liaison

The two volumes of Luftwaffe Camouflage and Markings 1933-1945 were well-received and sold in spectacular numbers despite their relatively high cover price. This photographic supplement is certain to find a ready market amongst all those who bought the original volumes as well as all those seeking detailed reference material on this complex subject.
