Description
French text and captions.
More than 1,400 aircraft built, not counting Israeli production, 70% of production exported, the Dassault Delta is an undeniable technical and commercial success. With the Caravelle and the Alouette, the Mirage III symbolizes the rebirth of French aviation at the dawn of the sixties. These machines, at the level of the best production in the world, paved the way for Airbus, Rafale and other Eurocopter products.
After three books devoted to the genesis of the program and the French Mirages, the authors address here the history of the planes sold to 19 foreign customers. All aspects of these contracts, technical as well as political, industrial and operational, are described with the testimony of the main actors of the time who reveal facts sometimes ignored to this day. Three former chiefs of staff were kind enough to preface this book and emphasize the importance of the Mirage for their air force. Israeli “derivative” aircraft – the Nesher and the Kfir – also find their place in this history.
The support of numerous foreign and French correspondents allowed the authors to offer a complete iconography which illustrates each version produced for all the air armies having implemented the Mirage.
With around twenty colour profiles and plans from the manufacturer, this book closes the story of an aircraft which will remain among the few machines which have marked the world history of aviation. Approximately 368 pages, more than 700 photos, plans and colour profiles.
