Description
This book is a departure from most of the authorsy previous publications, with a thematic approach focusing on the air war on the Eastern Front and is somewhat similar to his successful 2019 book “Pacific Fighter Aircraft Profile Book No. 9.” It includes 230 high quality German fighter aircraft profiles and reflect Sundin’s best work to date. Of these 30 are new profile subjects and the others the best from his previously published Profile Books No.10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 and updated/corrected where necessary.
This comprehensive collection of Eastern Front German fighter aircraft will offer the reader an understanding and appreciation how the Luftwaffe’s men and machines responded to the evolution of air combat over the 1941-1945 period from the first days of Operation Barbarossa to unconditional capitulation in May 1945. This story is presented through text and profiles of the different types of fighter aircraft operated by the Luftwaffe reflecting the elaborate and evolving camouflage schemes and colours, theatre markings, pilots’ personal and victory markings, and insignias used by the different Geschwaders, Gruppen and Staffeln.
