Description
This book covers every type of aircraft manufactured by Westland Aircraft up until the date of publication in 1944, including types made under license or subcontract. There is also a useful historical summary of company activity up until then, a list of company staff and a good selection of advertisements from companies of the period. Each main type has a brief description, specification, photographs and accurate 3-view drawings. This slim volume is quarto sized (just under A4) and the drawings are all to constant scale with the larger types, including the Dreadnought and the Westbury, given a two-page foldout to avoid a crease across the binding. Types made under license are drawn to a smaller scale. The descriptive accounts throughout are brief, typically being only a few paragraphs. This is a fascinating period piece and of great value to the aircraft modeller.
