Description
Italian text and captions. The book tells the story of SIAI Marchetti from 1946 to 1997, the year in which it was definitively absorbed by Aermacchi. After a chapter that traces the story as a whole, the subsequent chapters wind through the most significant projects of the Sesto Calende company: starting from the four-engine SM95, the last large passenger aircraft to be produced, passing through the small FN-333 touring aircraft “Riviera”, S.205, S.208 to arrive at SIAI’s most significant post-war aircraft and one of the best projects in the world: the SF-260, the “Ferrari of the skies”. Naturally, the related military projects of the SM.1019 and S.211 are not left out, as are other smaller projects such as the SM102 and SF-600.The book is enriched by over 170 colour and black and white images, mostly unpublished or little known, and by numerous testimonies and first-person accounts of the protagonists of the events covered. The work is completed by the technical data sheets of the aircraft and some in-depth information on specific topics.
