The book ‘Heaven Next Stop’ was written as a historical novel although it appears to the casual reader as a first-person autobiography. The book was meant as a personal tribute to the “fallen pilots of the Geschwader”. The author flew with JG26 and was shot down by P-47s on 24-6-1943 and baled out severely burned. He returned to JG26 but not in the combat role
