Description
Almost everything there is to know about the history of Channel Islands aviation from early beginnings to the Second World War must surely be included in this weighty book together with a huge number of photographs. The book has taken 40 years to come to fruition and the end result is a readable and highly illustrated book that had to be scaled down slightly from the author’s original concept of it as 560 pages … which he has ably done splitting off the more specialised aspects of the collectables associated with the subject which has been published by the Channel Islands Specialist Society in two volumes. Hence this volume starts with first flights, then looks at the development and trials and tribulations of scheduled services, the founding of the Jersey Airport and the Guernsey Aerodrome, the visit of the Airship 100 and much more.
