Description
Paul H. Wilkinson’s books “Aircraft Engines of the World” in 1941, 1944, and 1945 editions offer a detailed yet concise reference on the aircraft engines of the World War II period. Like the earlier 1941 and 1944 editions, the 1945 book lists over 122 piston engines. These are grouped by country including the U.S., Great Britain, Australia (which license built U.S. and British designs), France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the USSR. It also has chapters on “airborne auxiliary power plants” and jet propulsion. For each power plant, there is a photograph as well as detailed technical data. Information on each engine includes design history, number produced, or aircraft applications.
