Description
French language text and captions.
For the French Army, operations in Algeria represented an important step in the evolution of its doctrines with the concept of aeromobility implemented for the first time with obvious effectiveness thanks to the rotary wings, H-21 and S-51 in the lead, while with the Alouette II , it is the helicopter-borne medical evacuations which take on another dimension.
The widespread use of the helicopter also led to the implementation of armed devices for self-protection, then for fire support, which also constituted a founding event for the doctrine of using rotary wings in combat.
The fixed wings are not left out because during these “events”, the countless Pipers , Cessnas and other Nords participated very intensively in the operations. The book contains black & white photos throughout.
