Description

French language text and captions.
The main aim of this study is to make an inventory of the main aircraft of the Air Force, planes and helicopters, engaged throughout the 5th RA (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia) between May 1945 and March 1962 in what was then commonly called law enforcement operations, then during military operations in the face of the expansion of the insurgency, in what had become the Algerian war. This continued until 1967 when the last French forces left Algeria.

After a look at the disparate air resources of the North African schools until their withdrawal to France, then the mention of the liaison units which, at the very beginning, made it possible to create the air network necessary for command, it is the examination of the redeployments carried out from the mainland which indicates the policy pursued in particular for the benefit of the French Union.

The following chapters attempt to present the various types of devices falling under the classification in practice at the time as well as the periods during which the units concerned used them during law enforcement operations.

Finally, a table provides information on the period of use of the main devices used on the front line and in a significant way.

This is the order of battle of the Air Force which is thus presented through its aircraft and formations. The archives consulted are what they are, sometimes incomplete, sometimes contradictory. Some start or end dates of use of certain types of devices may give rise to reflection. They are nevertheless the result of lengthy research and consultations. The book contains black & white photos throughout.
