Description
It has been 70 years since the sound of engines and the crash of bombs resounded in the skies of France. After having carried out a great deal of research and met many witnesses or veterans Philippe Trombetta embarked on a study of American fighter groups who fought over Normandy. The 362nd Fighter Group was based at Headcorn in Kent, then on A-12 Lignerolle and finally on A-27 Rennes. This unit was the most successful in the European theatre of operations, with no less than six pilots in the Top 10 of the 9th Air Force. To the many unpublished photographs, portraits of pilots, views of the daily life of the Group in combat – are added profiles of airplanes and land vehicles. French text and captions.
